Ms Nicky Stanley, Senior Lecturer in Social Work, University of Hull, co-editor of Students’ Mental Health Needs Nicky Stanley is co-editor of Students' Mental Health Needs ( Jessica Kingsley, 2002) and co-author of Making Use of Hindsight (University of Hull and Papyrus, 2001) She has worked in mental health services and is now a senior lecturer in social work. She managed the project - Responding Effectively to Students' Mental Health Needs and has contributed to the development of disability and mental health policies at the University of Hull. She teaches and researches on issues concerning mental health, children and young people. She will discuss ways of helping academic staff support students with particular reference to the need for clear role boundaries and knowledge of referral sources.

Ms Ros Crouch, Principal Lecturer, University of Hertfordshire Ros Crouch is a Principal Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Hertfordshire, where she has the responsibility of organizing personal tutoring for the Computer Science degree. A trained psychodynamic counsellor as well as an academic, she is interested in the support of students in the university context and in the interface between the varying needs and demands of the institution, the academic course, tutors and students. Her paper ' Involving the personal tutor in supporting student learning' can be found in Improving Student Learning (edited by Chris Rust, published by Oxford Centre for Staff and Learning Development). She will consider innovative ways of supporting students when a tutoring system has to deal with large numbers.
